What is RSS3?

Introduction

The first information distribution protocol widely adopted across the internet is The Really Simple Syndication (RSS). It is a feed file that contains a summary of websites' updates. Adding an RSS feed to websites allows content developers and users to subscribe to blogs, news media, and web content in line with their choice.

RSS was designed to be decentralized but not distributed, resulting in the monopoly of centralized web hosting service providers. As such, the need to create an information distribution protocol that is more sophisticated was imminent. This led to the creation of RSS3.

What is RSS3?

RSS3 is the next-generation feed standard. It is an open protocol mainly designed for content and social networks in web3 to support efficient and decentralized information distribution. Multiple measures are also implemented to ensure the network’s stability and security.

The RSS3 protocol has a node, a user, and a third-party application. Developers and users of RSS3 can build third-party apps with a simple user interface on distributed nodes that can be desktop or mobile apps, browser extensions, and more.

The goal of RSS3, as detailed in a report, is to: offer every entity an RSS3 file that will act as source data and be updated continuously. The report stated that the source data would be used to aggregate all cyber activities, powering social media, content networks, metaverse apps, e-commerce platforms, games, and other data-driven applications.

By extension, users will have complete control over their feed and choose to create, disseminate, distribute and even monetize their data.

Key Features of RSS3

  1. Distributing Control: RSS3 offers users distribution control over their data.
  2. Open-source: All RSS3 projects and protocols are open-source. The codes are made available for everyone to review. This was done to create a transparent system where users do not have to trust centralized platforms blindly.
  3. Democratic governance: The hallmark of a truly decentralized platform lies in making users part of the governance system. RSS3 allows users to have a say in the platform's governance.
  4. Neutrality: The RSS3 protocol is 100% neutral. It shows no bias towards any particular application.
  5. Inclusivity: RSS3 and its applications aim to be inclusive by modules through hosting, indexing, or monetizing. It is designed to be inclusive of modules with different functionalities. This opens up RSS3 in a flexible manner for varied possibilities.
Key Features of RSS3

The RSS3 token

One of the benefits of blockchain technology is its introduction of a self-sufficient economic model with incentives to treat the open source community and users as stakeholders of a particular project.

The RSS3 whitepaper detailed that the RSS3 DAO will manage all transactions related to RSS3 and its network. The governance token is called RSS3 and is built on the Ethereum blockchain. R3SS3 token has a total supply of 1,000,000,000 (1 Billion) with 8,960,000 token in circulation.

In addition to public offerings and airdrop rewards, most tokens will immediately enter a lockdown and slow release period of one to five years.

Where to buy an RSS3 token?

RSS3 token is listed on many crypto exchanges and can be purchased on verified crypto exchanges like Bit.com. In addition, deposit and withdrawal of RSS3 are live and available on Bit.com.
